Community networks in South America

South America has organized Meshtastic communities in Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Colombia, alongside older community LoRaWAN ecosystems in eight countries. Brazil and Argentina contain the largest number of identifiable regional mesh groups.

Directory status: 36 curated records across eight countries. Historical TTN city listings are aggregated by country rather than counted as dozens of currently operational networks.

Countries not yet documented

Bolivia, Guyana, Paraguay and Suriname.

No qualifying named public Meshtastic, MeshCore or community LoRaWAN network was confirmed during this review. Paraguay’s TTN country page currently lists zero communities and zero gateways. French Guiana and the Falkland Islands were also reviewed as territories, but no qualifying public network was confirmed.

Radio compatibility

South America does not use one universal “915 MHz” plan. Meshtastic currently recommends ANZ for Argentina, Chile and Colombia, while Brazil has the dedicated BR_902 profile and also documents other locally used arrangements. A profile name is not a substitute for national law or a community’s exact frequency slot and modem preset.

See legal frequency rules for Meshtastic and LoRa in the Americas before configuring or moving a transmitter between countries.

Scope and corrections

  • A public community proves organization, not nationwide RF coverage.
  • Maps, websites and chat links belonging to one community are not counted as separate networks.
  • TTN city lists are aggregated where current gateway state is inconsistent or historical.
  • Send additions with a public source, service area, technology, current status and exact radio configuration if published.
